Climbing and scrambling, playing together or making up your own game. At Spelen bij Beelen children aged 0 to 12 get the space to play the way they want, at their own pace.
It is a place to play without loud music, flashing rides or the overload of electronic play equipment. Children do not watch from the sidelines; they get going themselves. Outdoors when the weather allows, and under cover when it rains.
Climbing, scrambling, sliding and running around. Children can go exploring here and invent their own games.

Digging, building and playing in the sand. The big sandpit is covered, so children can play here when it rains too.

Take the wheel and discover traffic through play. Children drive through Verkeersstad Harvey, a little traffic town, and decide for themselves where to go.

Hop in, grab the wheel and drive your own lap. With Frenky’s pedal cars children can set off on their own and ride around at their own pace.

Put on your roller skates and take to the rink. You can borrow roller skates from us for free, and protective gear too. The roller skating rink is covered, so you can skate here when it rains too.

More informationThere is plenty to experience at Spelen bij Beelen. Children can climb, scramble, run and discover. Not every activity suits every age or height, so check in advance what suits your child. And set off well prepared.
You will find Spelen bij Beelen at Doklaan 40 in Rotterdam-Zuid, on the Maashaven.

Play does not have to be complicated. Running, climbing, building, discovering and deciding for yourself what to do: that is what Spelen bij Beelen is all about. Wim Beelen wanted to create a place where children have the space to simply play. Not from ride to ride, but exploring on their own and having fun together.
At Spelen bij Beelen you will not find merry-go-rounds, roller coasters or electric machines. Children get moving themselves. They climb, scramble, build, run and discover, and so they make up their own adventures.
See all activitiesGood play goes with good, healthy food. We have plenty of choice for children and adults and keep prices affordable. On their first visit every visitor receives a cup to take home. In the park you can fill it for free at the water points.
See food and drinkA little rain does not have to spoil a day at Spelen bij Beelen. Besides outdoor play, there are activities under cover as well. That way you can check in advance what there is to do in poorer weather, rather than finding out on arrival which activities are open.
See the indoor activitiesThere is already plenty to do, and new play areas will be added in the time ahead.
Frenky World, a new indoor play area above the sandpit, is expected to open in mid-October 2026. Children can climb, scramble and discover there.
After that the outdoor area will be extended further. Plans include a play greenhouse, a play farm, an extra play square and a highline.
Spelen bij Beelen is part of ZUIDYARD on the Maashaven. On the same site you will also find other activities and places to eat or drink.
