Why is Wim doing this?

We are asked that often. Why build a play park for children?

The answer is simple: because every child has a right to a happy childhood. Wim knows from his own experience how important that is. He grew up in a childhood that was not always safe and carefree, and that is exactly why he now wants to give something back: a place where children can play, discover and simply be children.

Spelen bij Beelen grew out of that, with one clear goal: to make a beautiful place for children from Rotterdam and the surrounding area. A place we would have wanted as children ourselves.

Our view on attractions

At Spelen bij Beelen there are no electric rides. No flashing lights, no loud noises and no machines taking over the play. We believe children play best when they create the adventure themselves. Not steered by technology, but by their own imagination, curiosity and energy.

Our view on food & drinks

Good food is part of a good start, which is why we believe healthy food should be accessible to everyone. At Spelen bij Beelen we keep our prices fair and affordable, so every family can enjoy a day out.

You may not bring your own food and drinks into the park, but we do make sure there is something to choose for every child, at an affordable price.

We believe in healthy and in enjoying yourself. You will find pesticide-free vegetables from our own farm Eten bij Beelen, fresh juices and healthy snacks. But also a really good ice cream. Because a day of play is also a day to enjoy, and together with you we look for the right balance.

Our view on waste

We want to create as little waste as possible, so we use reusable solutions wherever we can. Every child receives their own cup on their first visit. It can be used for water or juice in the park and may be taken home. Will you bring that cup along next time? Together we prevent needless waste.

We also use as little packaging as possible and keep looking for better, cleaner solutions. Not because it has to be perfect, but because we believe small choices together make a big difference. A clean park is nicer to play in and better for the future of the children growing up here.
